The Cleverlike Studios, Inc. team recently held an E2 weekend at UNCG Esports. This included teacher professional learning in two days of hands-on workshops in the Epic Games ecosystem...an essential industry tool for digital communication and interactivity. On Sunday, the Esports Studies students ran a live Fortnite competition for younger students in the region.
The event is hosted and organized by Sophia Priest and John Borchert at UNCG Esports. Thanks to Steve Isaacs at Epic for being the catalyst and supporter of so many great education events, including this one.
Here's what we covered in the 2-day training lead by our engaging and fun gold-level Unreal Authorized Instructor Ian Southwell:
Day 1

- Rube Goldberg Learning Kit for Unreal Engine: the best way for students and educators to get started with learning Unreal Engine.
- The Virtual Production Learning Kit: this is a new kit we are creating to help people understand Virtual Production and the role played by an Unreal Engine expert in the process.
Day 2

- Create a Parkour Course in LEGO Fortnite using UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite): the perfect onramp for students aiming toward Unreal Engine skills. (We also have a Parkour Construction Kit for Minecraft, if you'd prefer to start there.)
- Introduction to Programming with Verse in UEFN: a custom curriculum we created to teach coding concepts where all of your code runs in Fortnite! How cool?!
